After weeks of yo-yo weather we finally lucked up on some sunshine. Golden hour at Pleasure House Point in Virginia Beach was the area we decided on for Dorothy's maternity session and I'm so glad that we did. Tall grass, sandy trails, golden sunlight, and a beautiful mother and her family ready for an awesome as maternity session... It was perfect. Dorothy selected a beautiful laced Bohemian gown from my client closet, which paired perfect for the beautiful marsh. If you've been in the area for a while you maybe familiar with Pleasure House Point.
If you haven't been out to visit please take advantage of the beautiful scenic trails and waterways.
A Family Affair
I always think it's a good idea for family to join in on maternity sessions. It makes for adorable candids!! Documenting families before the new arrival is always special and makes me so happy. I know many clients worry about posing, but I try to make it as painless as possible. We did not have to move around too much. During maternity session I try to be mindful. I want the mothers to be comfortable and not have to do too much walking. I tend to rotate around them to change up the scenery and get the best shot. This family was super fun and easy to capture because her husband kept us all laughing, and Dorothy's son was such a trooper. He was a little shy at first, but definitely opened up more during the session.
During this session I looked for lots candid moments between the family and used structured poses for Dorothy. I wanted to make sure we focused on her baby bump and really high light her glow. Overall it was a very beautiful session and I was so happy to be apart of these moments.
